OCEANSIDE, CA — An Oceanside resident competed on "Let's Make a Deal."
Emily Reed, who is retired from the U.S. Air Force Reserve and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will appear on Wednesday's episode of the television game show.
"I really enjoyed being on the show," Reed told Patch. "It was a lot of fun, and being with people that exude so much energy was such a unique experience. We all fed off of one another's excitement. It was all a blast."

The show is known for its audience members who dress up in crazy costumes to get host Wayne Brady's attention, in hopes of getting a chance to compete. As a fan of the show, Reed said she sometimes plays along at home.
"Sometimes I play along with the contestants to see if I would have made the right choice," said Reed, who has lived in Oceanside for 23 years. "Would I have gotten a wonderful prize or a Zonk?"

It was the first time Reed competed on a game show. She learned about the opportunity through an email seeking contestants. She applied online and was interviewed over Zoom.
"I like the idea of wearing costumes," Reed said. "Also, winning prizes is easy; it's all about chances."
Reed did not disclose whether or not she won a prize but said waiting to get chosen as a contestant was her favorite part of the experience.
"The anticipation in waiting to see if Wayne Brady was going to look at you and call your name, then watching people's reactions when they won a good prize," she said. "Even if they got a Zonk, you can tell it in their face that they still had fun playing. No sore losers in that show."
The episode is scheduled to air Wednesday on CBS.
