Sonic Boom Heard Across SoCal. Here's Why
One social media user said the boom "scared the crap out of me" and "took years off my life."

OCEANSIDE, CA — A sonic boom startled some Southern Californians on Saturday night when SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft splashed down in the Pacific Ocean.
Hawthorne-based SpaceX posted on social media at about 9:45 p.m. that Dragon would splash down near Oceanside, warning of a brief sonic boom. The company confirmed around 10:45 p.m. that Dragon had re-entered the atmosphere and was back on Earth.
Several commenters on the SpaceX posts made it known that they had heard the sonic boom, with one saying it “scared the crap out of me” and “took years off my life,” while another noted, “our neighborhood WhatsApp chat going insane rn.”

“You gave all of LA a heart attack with that sonic boom,” a third commented.
Dragon undocked from the International Space Station around 9 a.m. Friday after arriving over a month ago with roughly 6,700 pounds of supplies, equipment and more, according to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
