Stephen King's Thinner Special Reunion Coming To Oceanside - Jan 20

OCEANSIDE, CA - The Oceanside International Film Festival announces a special reunion screening of Stephen King's Thinner for Saturday, January 20th, 2024. The event will be held at The Star Theatre in Downtown Oceanside with doors opening at 4:00pm. The presentation will be followed by a retrospective panel discussion with the attending cast & crew of the film. Director Tom Holland (Child’s Play, Fright Night), Star Robert John Burke & makeup & effects artist Vincent J. Guastini are set to appear in-person. Criminal Minds and The Simpsons star Joe Mantegna is newly announced to join the panel. A meet and greet with the attending cast and crew is scheduled to proceed the screening of the film and panel discussion.

In Stephen King's Thinner, an obese lawyer (Billy Halek, played by Robert John Burke) finds himself growing "Thinner" when a mysterious carny (Michael Constantine) places a hex on him. Now the lawyer must call upon his friends in organized crime (Joe Mantegna) to help persuade the old man to lift the curse. Time is running out for the desperate lawyer as he draws closer to his own death & grows ever thinner by the day.

Previous special events the Oceanside Intl Film Festival has hosted include the 20th-anniversary cast & crew Reunion for Blue Crush (2002) as well as multiple cast screenings for TNT’s locally produced TV series Animal Kingdom. Other guests hosted by OIFF include Orange is the New Black star Taryn Manning, Six Feet Under star Joanna Cassidy, Star Wars production designer Alan Roderick-Jones, among many others.
