1 Dead, 1 Injured In Huntington Beach Crash Following Police Chase

The car was being chased by the Fountain Valley Police Department sometime before it fatally crashed into a tree.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A car fleeing from police Thursday night crashed into a tree in Huntington Beach, killing one of its passengers and injuring another, authorities said.

The Huntington Beach Police Department said it's withholding the deceased person's name pending next of kin notification. The injured person was taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. on Brookhurst Street, near Hamilton Avenue and Bushard Street, Huntington Beach police said.

The car was involved in a pursuit with the Fountain Valley Police Department earlier, but the police ended the chase before the crash.

The Huntington Beach Police Department said it was not involved in the chase.
