Hit-And-Run Driver Sought After Striking 12-Year-Old Boy On E-Bike

The suspect's hit-and-run vehicle was found about a block from the crash site, according to police.

ANAHEIM, CA — Authorities Monday were seeking a hit-and-run driver who struck a 12-year-old boy on an e-bike in Anaheim.

The crash was reported at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday at Topeka and North streets, according to the Anaheim Police Department.

The boy and the driver of the car ran stop signs and crashed, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Matt Sutter.

The boy was injured in the crash with a broken leg and concussion, as well as a "bunch of bruises and scapes," Sutter said.

He remained hospitalized as of Monday and was not identified.

The car's driver crashed about a block away from the crash site and the car's occupants got out and ran away, Sutter said.

The car was impounded and investigators found "evidence in the car that suggests DUI might have been a factor," Sutter said.
