OC Man Faces Charges For Threatening Fullerton Sen. Josh Newman

A 64-year-old La Habra felon pleaded guilty Wednesday and was immediately sentenced to six months in jail for threatening a state senator.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A 64-year-old La Habra felon pleaded guilty Wednesday and was immediately sentenced to six months in jail for threatening state Sen. Josh Newman, D-Fullerton.

Mark Edmund Halderman pleaded guilty to single counts each of criminal threats, threatening public officials and annoying repeated telephone calls, all misdemeanors.

Halderman threatened Newman on Aug. 14, 2021.

He was also placed on two years of formal probation.

Halderman was convicted of a felony count of criminal threats in January 2014.
