Woman Dead In OC House Fire, Man Hospitalized

A woman was killed Monday morning when an Anaheim house became engulfed in flames.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A woman was killed Monday morning when an Anaheim house became engulfed in flames.

A neighbor called Anaheim Fire and Rescue at 1 a.m. to report the house fire in the 2700 block of East Verde Avenue, Anaheim police Sgt. Shane Carringer told City News Service.

Firefighters extinguished the flames in about a half hour, Carringer said. The woman died at the scene and a male of unknown age was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Information was not immediately available on the identity of the fatally injured woman. The cause of the fire was under investigation. It appeared the house was a total loss, Carringer said.
