New Guide to Giving Highlights Philanthropy of Local Residents
The guide also describes customizable charitable giving opportunities for financial and estate planning.

From ConnCF: Connecticut Community Foundation has released a new Guide to Giving which highlights the philanthropic endeavors of Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills residents to enrich communities in the region and describes customizable charitable giving opportunities for financial and estate planning.
The Guide features the stories of Emily and Eric Anderson of Woodbury, Valerie Friedman of Washington, Samantha and Rob Nobile of Southbury, Lisa Powers and Fred Baker of New Milford, and Dolores Riollano of Waterbury.
In a tribute to their mothers, Emily and Eric Anderson started a scholarship fund at Connecticut Community Foundation called The Mothers Fund, which provides financial help to college students in the Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills region who are pursuing degrees in English, literature or journalism.

Emily said, “When we started the fund, we didn’t have a lot of money. But, we wanted to support the dreams of students who wanted to go to college but couldn’t afford to. Even a small fund like ours can make a difference in someone’s life.”
Paula Van Ness, president and CEO of the Foundation, said, “Since 1923, thousands of people have created and grown philanthropic funds through the Foundation to help Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills thrive. We expect the Guide to Giving to be a vital resource for financial and estate planners, community residents, and donors and potential donors who wish to make more charitable visions reality.”
