Hiker Rescued On Palm Desert Trail

PALM DESERT, CA — A hiker was rescued Tuesday after suffering an injury on a Palm Desert trail.

The rescue was reported about 1:15 p.m. Tuesday on the Art Smith Trail, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

Crews reached the injured hiker on foot, and a helicopter hoisted the person to an awaiting ambulance, the department said. The hiker was taken to a hospital, fire officials said.

The severity of the injury was not immediately known.
