Jefferson Street, Fred Waring Drive Intersection: Expect Delays

Repairs will be underway on Friday, Feb. 24.

The following is a news release from the city of Indio:

INDIO, CA — The City of Indio, in a joint project with the City of La Quinta, will be slurry sealing Jefferson Street from Avenue 50 to Dunbar Drive later this March. In advance of this project, prep work to fix severely damaged pavement at the intersection of Fred Waring Dr. and Jefferson St. will be needed.

On Friday, February 24, 2023, residents and motorists should expect delays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Traffic will be reduced down to one lane for southbound Jefferson St. and westbound Fred Waring Dr. during construction. Road signs for traffic control will be in place, and the traffic signal will be in flashing red.

Lanes will be reopened to traffic once the repairs are complete.

The public's cooperation and observance of all construction signs is greatly appreciated to ensure the safety of both drivers and construction crews. Access to emergency vehicles will be unaffected.

All work is expected to be complete within the posted times and there will be no work planned for the weekend.

This project is part of the City's street maintenance program that extends the roadway’s service life, improves the ride surface and prevents water from deteriorating the ground under our streets. The work involves the removal and replacement of damaged pavement in the intersection.
