La Quinta Couple ID'd As Victims In Fatal Thermal Crash

THERMAL, CA — Two people killed Friday evening in a collision with a big rig in Thermal were identified over the weekend as a La Quinta couple.

Sandra Villanueva, 72, and Henry Villanueva, 73, died at the crash scene on Airport Blvd., about a quarter mile east of Shady Lane, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau.

The crash occurred in the 86600 block of Airport Boulevard just before 6 p.m., according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The truck driver was not injured, the department reported.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
