Palm Desert Attorney Indicted On Fraud Charges
The Canadian citizen is accused of using the ID of another attorney to obtain a U.S. passport.

A Palm Desert attorney is facing charges stemming from accusations that he fraudulently obtained a United States passport by using the ID of another attorney without permission.
Warren David Camp, 47, a Canadian citizen, was indicted by a federal grand jury on March 14 in a 3-count federal indictment, according to United States Attorney André Birotte, Jr. He could face a maximum of 15 years in federal prison.
Camp, who was arrested on March 15, pleaded not guilty in Los Angeles before Federal Magistrate Judge Michael R. Wilner, who set bail at $50,000.

Camp is charged with making a false statement in a passport application, making materially false statements to the United States Department of State, and false representation of a social security account number assigned to another person.
“Passport and identity fraud are serious crimes that threaten both the sanctity of our nation’s borders and the peace of mind of our citizens,” Birotte said. “The charges in this case send a strong message of deterrence to any and all persons who would seek to tamper with the U.S. passport.”

Camp is accused of using the driver's license and the social secruity number of another attorney and making false statements in an application for a U.S. passport on Aug. 25, 2009.
This case was investigated by the U.S. Department of State Diplomatic Security Service.
According to Camp's website, he practices family law, as well as local, multistate and international litigation and mediation.
