Amador Valley High Grad Killed In Solo Vehicle Crash: Community Mourns
A memorial service Friday in Pleasanton will honor the memory of Jensen Ybarra, a 35-year-old husband and father of a one-year-old.
PLEASANTON, CA — The Tri-Valley is mourning the loss of Jensen Ybarra, a 35-year-old Pleasanton native and Livermore husband and father of a one-year-old who died in a solo car crash earlier this month.
Ybarra died the night of Aug. 15 in Arnold, Calif., near Calaveras Big Trees State Park, while spending time at a family cabin. An initial CHP report said that he lost control on Highway 4 and crashed into a tree, and his car caught fire while he was trapped inside.
Ybarra is remembered as an “amazing friend” and a “positive thinker,” according to his obituary. Born Sept. 10, 1986, he grew up in Pleasanton fishing with his grandfather, and playing basketball and street hockey with his brother and neighborhood friends. He was a champion linebacker at Amador Valley High School, where he graduated in 2005. His family described him as a “natural, multi-sport athlete” and “true competitor.”

He received his BA in Agriculture Business from California Polytechnic State University, and worked as senior sales director at Supermicro, a computer manufacturing and IT company. In June 2017, he married his wife Perri, and in Aug. 2021, they welcomed their son, Callan.
“As a father, Jensen beamed when Callan reached new milestones, and his favorite time was spent making new memories with his family,” Ybarra’s obituary reads. “The two were often seen singing and dancing to Callan's favorite song, "We Don't Talk About Bruno". It was becoming common to see Callan riding next to daddy on the golf cart.”
