Bird Hitting Electrical Wire Linked To Vegetation Fire In Pleasanton

PLEASANTON, CA - Firefighters have determined what likely started a vegetation fire off Chatham Place in Pleasanton on May 13.

Chief Joe Testa with the Livermore Pleasanton Fire Department said the probable cause was a bird clipping an electrical wire.

The fire spanned 8 acres total and was in a vacant area.

No injuries or structural damage were reported.

At the same time, more than 2,000 PG&E customers were without power for at least an hour.

It’s unconfirmed if the outage was related to the fire but Testa said outages should be expected during peak fire season, which officially launched Monday.
