Chabot-Las Positas Community College District Names New Trustee

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District Board of Trustees has appointed Tim Sbranti, who replaces the retired Carlo Vecchiarelli.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA -- The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District Board of Trustees has appointed a new member from Trustee Area 5, which includes the cities of Pleasanton, Dublin and Sunol.

Dublin resident Tim Sbranti replaces Carlo Vecchiarelli, who retired in February, as an appointed member of the Board until the next regularly scheduled election for governing board members in November 2020.

Sbranti was appointed following a process that included a review of applications and interviews with the current Board. He's scheduled to be sworn in and begin service at the regularly scheduled board meeting, at Las Positas College on April 16.

Sbranti is an educator with the Dublin Unified School District and currently serves on the Board of the California Collaborative for Educational Excellence (CCEE). He mayor for the City of Dublin from 2008-2014, and served as the District Director/Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman Eric Swalwell.

"We had six excellent candidates who are devoted to their community and we thank them for their interest in serving the District," Board of Trustees President Edralin "Ed" Maduli said. "We are pleased with the selection of Mr. Sbranti. As a lifelong public servant, he has extensive experience in education, government at the local, state and federal level, knowledge of our community, and he will be a great addition to our Board and the District."

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance of Chabot College in Hayward and Las Positas College in Livermore.
