Community Mourns Loss Of Beloved Pleasanton Teacher

School district officials said Mark Tierney died late Friday night.

PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton community is mourning the loss of a beloved middle school teacher who died Friday night. Mark Tierney, who was a history teacher at Thomas Hart Middle School, touched the lives of many students over the years, according to school employees.

On Saturday, parents were notified by email about Tierney’s death. Counselors are available this week for students at Hart, Foothill and Amador Valley who need support.

Principal Leslie Heller sent the following email to Hart families:

Dear Hart Community,
I am saddened to share that Mark Tierney, Hart History teacher passed away late Friday evening. Our hearts go out to Mark’s family, friends and all those lives he touched during his time at Hart Middle School.
Mark was a beloved member of our Hart community, and he will be remembered for the profound impact and immeasurable difference he has made for our students and staff. We are incredibly grateful for his service and dedication to our Hart Huskies - Mark will be sorely missed.
Please join our Hart community in keeping Mark and his family in our thoughts during this difficult time.
