Coroner Reveals 4th Pleasanton Crash Victim

The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau officially released the name of the mother of a family killed in a fatal car crash last Wednesday.

PLEASANTON, CA — The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau officially released the name of the fourth victim of a fatal car crash that killed an entire family April 24. Though the name circulated around town and was revealed at a large vigil for the family Sunday, the coroner’s bureau only initially released the names of the father and two sons.

The coroner emailed Patch the following details Friday:

  • Tarun George Cherukara George, 41, Male, of Pleasanton
  • Rincy George, 41, Female, of Pleasanton
  • Rowan Cherukara George, 13, Male, of Pleasanton
  • Aaron Cherukara Geroge, 8, Male, of Pleasanton

The George family was returning home from a birthday party on Wednesday, April 24, when their VinFast electric car hit a pole, then a tree, and caught fire, killing all inside, according to police reports. Police believe speed was a factor, though this has not yet been officially confirmed. Alcohol, drugs, and/or foul play are not believed to be a factor.

A memorial on the site of the accident near Foothill Road and Stoneridge Drive continues to grow. Last Sunday, hundreds attended a vigil at Val Vista Park, where they told news outlets that the George family were social, energetic, kind, and caring.

Rowan was in eighth grade at Hart Middle School, and Aaron was in second grade at Donlon Elementary School. The Pleasanton Unified School District said that it is offering expanded mental health resources to help anyone affected by the loss.
