Barricaded Suspect Found With Knife In Pleasanton
Pleasanton police say they spent over 90 minutes negotiating with an intoxicated man found asleep behind the wheel who was refusing arrest.

PLEASANTON, CA — A man was arrested Thursday morning in Pleasanton after barricading himself for over 90 minutes, according to the Pleasanton Police Department. A section of Muirwood Drive near Las Positas Boulevard was closed during the negotiations with multiple police units.
At approximately 6:50 a.m., Pleasanton police were asked to perform a welfare check on a person who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel. Officers arrived and found a man asleep behind the wheel of a dented car with a damaged tire, which appears to have been in a collision.
Officers asked the man to step out of the car, but say he refused and was visibly intoxicated. Officers also say they spotted a knife on the floor near the driver, and called in additional officers, clinicians, and a trained crisis negotiator. The team spent over 90 minutes negotiating, but say the suspect remained uncooperative. Eventually, officers removed the suspect from the car, and he was taken into custody without injury.
