Meet Matt Gaidos, Candidate For Pleasanton City Council District 4

PLEASANTON, CA — Patch reached out to all candidates for Pleasanton Mayor and and City Council with identical questions. Here are the responses from Matt Gaidos, a candidate for District 4. Responses have not been edited.
1. What is your personal, educational, and professional background?
I am an Amador Valley High School Graduate who holds a B.A. from University of California and a J.D. from Golden Gate University. I am a licensed attorney in the state of California and was Hired by Tom Orloff to the district attorneys office in Alameda county in 2008. I have served the county as a Deputy District Attorney for 16 years prosecuting serious and violent cases. I also sit as the chairperson of the Planning Commission for the City of Pleasanton and regularly lecture at the Alameda County Sheriff's academy.

2. How long have you lived in Pleasanton?
Since 1985 (excepting my years at U.C.S.C.)

3. What brought you here?
My family moved from Livermore, and I was 6, and if memory serves it was a Buick.
4. How have you been involved in the community?
I have coached all of my kids in baseball and other youth sports, I was the Parliamentarian for Boys Team Charity for the past couple of years. With regard to city service, I was appointed the Housing Commission by Jerry Thorne in 2015, and then to the Planning Commission in 2022 by the City Council. I am the current chair of the Planning Commission. What do you feel are some of the biggest challenges facing the city? Crime, as well as delivering clean and non-contaminated water and the financial infrastructure to keep delivering that and other high level amenities and services to our residents.

6. What are your plans for addressing them?
I am currently working with experts from Zone 7 to educate myself and leveraging my relationships with other local and national elected officials to try to secure funding to address the future water issues. As a law enforcement professional I will also lend my expertise to make sure that those who victimize our community are held accountable.
7. What makes you the best candidate?
As a lifelong Pleasanton local public servant, attorney, and prosecutor I have the contacts and tools to be a strong leader and deliver results.
8. Outside of politics, what do you enjoy doing?
Woodworking, supporting and watching my kids extra-curricular sporting activities, and watching 49ers games with my family and close friends.
9. Any other comments?
I encourage the voters of Pleasanton to support public safety in every way and to get out and Vote on November 5. I also encourage the voters to consider measure PP very carefully and consider what it takes to keep Pleasanton a desirable place to raise a family.
