Michelle Obama Visits Livermore Costco
Shoppers were surprised to see the former First Lady selling her new brand of healthy soft drinks for kids.

LIVERMORE, CA — Unsuspecting Costco shoppers in Livermore got quite a surprise Tuesday when former First Lady Michelle Obama turned up unexpectedly.
A viral TikTok with nearly 689,000 views showed the former First Lady holding up a carton of her new kid’s beverage, Plezi Fizz, to a crowd and telling them, “It’s healthy.”
Obama made healthy eating, especially for children, a cornerstone of her time as First Lady. She has recently started a company called PLEZi Nutrition, which hopes “not just to provide healthier and delicious drinks and snacks for kids, but to jumpstart a race to the top that will transform the entire food industry,” according to the company website.

The first product is a soda drink for children ages 6 and up that claims to have “less sugar, less sweetness, and more nutrients like fiber and potassium than you’ll find in many drinks out there.”
The drink is currently available online at other Costco stores, and online at Walmart, Target, Sprouts Farmers Markets & select Kroger stores.

Patch reached out to Costco to determine how this visit came to be, and if she visited other nearby Costco stores.
When celebrities promote their products at stores, it is often announced beforehand, and massive crowds form, like when “Breaking Bad” actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul visited Gene’s Fine Foods in Pleasanton to promote their mezcal drink, or when Jason Momoa visited Safeway in Danville and Rubys & Roses Restaurant in Pleasanton to promote his vodka.
In the comments to the TikTok video, many people purported to know nothing about the visit to promote a much more kid-friendly drink.
“I live like 20 minutes away, hella mad I missed that,” wrote one commenter.
