"For National Poetry Month...": The Writers' Spotlight

Adelaide Rampton shares a poem celebrating poetry and National Poetry Month!

In every day you live to do something,
Whether it’s to walk or talk or dance around,
Yet do we ever ask ourselves why?
I live for my family,
For friendship
and for fun,
For happiness, complaining
For hardship and pain
The achievements and gain that I have lived are what I live for.

In every day you should try and understand,
How lucky you are to have all that you have.
Your friends,
Your family,
Your beautiful room that you could share with someone else,
And a safe place to sleep at night
You should understand all the things that you have because you really don’t understand everything that you take for granted until it’s gone.

In every day I have doubts,
Like if I am good enough,
Or all the other horrid things that go into my brain
My feelings are good,, sad,, and extreme,
In life I feel things things and that is why-
Living is a journey,
Full of hardship and love,
The things that you have,
And the things that you take.
