Pedestrian Running Onto East Bay Freeway Struck And Killed

PLEASANTON, CA — A pedestrian was killed after running into lanes of traffic on eastbound I-580, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At around 9 p.m. Thursday, CHP received reports that a pedestrian was lying in the traffic lanes of eastbound I-580, just east of Foothill Road in Pleasanton. Preliminary investigations indicate that the pedestrian ran into lanes of traffic and was struck by an oncoming car. After the initial impact, the pedestrian was lying down on the freeway and is believed to have been struck by multiple vehicles.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene, CHP said.
