Tri-Valley City Among Top 10 Cleanest American Cities: Study

PLEASANTON, CA — Lawn care company Lawn Starter ranked Pleasanton the ninth cleanest large city in the United States, based on factors like pollution, inadequate living conditions, inadequate waste infrastructure, and resident dissatisfaction. Each factor was assigned different weights based on importance and used to rank over 300 cities nationwide.

Pleasanton was the only California city to make the top 10, though several California cities made it into the bottom 10. The top ten cleanest cities were:

1. South Bend, Indiana (No. 303)
2. Wilmington, North Carolina (No. 302)
3. Des Moines, Iowa (No. 301)
4. Davenport, Iowa (No. 300)
5. Athens, Georgia (No. 299)
6. Winston-Salem, North Carolina (No. 298)
7. Fargo, North Dakota (No. 297)
8. Frederick, Maryland (No. 296)
9. Pleasanton, California (No. 295)
10. Lynchburg, Virginia (No. 294)

The ten dirtiest:

1. San Bernardino, California
2. Los Angeles, California
3. Detroit, Michigan
4. Reading, Pennsylvania
5. Ontario, California
6. Newark, New Jersey
7. Phoenix, Arizona
8. Jersey City, New Jersey
9. Las Vegas, Nevada
10. Corona, California

"This recognition is a reflection of the pride our residents take in their neighborhoods and the dedication of our City teams who work every day to keep Pleasanton looking its best," the city said in a statement. "Thank you to everyone who helps make Pleasanton such a clean, beautiful, and welcoming place to call home."
