Pleasanton 'Weekend On Main,' Street Closures Return Friday

Main Street will be closed to traffic on weekends for shoppers and diners to enjoy the outdoors. Here's what drivers need to know.

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton is bringing back its Weekend on Main downtown street closures.

Main Street will be closed to cars each weekend from 3 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday beginning Friday, the Pleasanton Downtown Association previously announced. Street closures will be extended through Monday evenings on Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends.

The Weekend on Main street closures were first initiated last summer to allow restaurants more space to accommodate outdoor dining.

Guests are reminded to follow COVID-19 safety protocols from the state and Alameda County, according to the association. Masks must be worn unless you're seated for dining and six feet of social distancing must be maintained. Guests must also observe any rules implemented by downtown businesses.

Guests may park at the following lots during the weekend events:

  • library lot (400 Old Bernal Ave.)
  • Civic Center Lot (200 Old Bernal Ave.)
  • Firehouse Arts Center public lot (4444 Railroad Ave.)
  • public lot at 500 St. Mary St.

The association also remains people to keep an eye out for cyclists, who are permitted to ride through downtown amid the street closure. Cyclists are asked to proceed slowly and with caution while riding along Main Street.
People should also be wary of traffic at cross streets.
