Matt Gaidos for City Council, District 4

PleasantonVoters.com, a nonpartisan informational website, has endorsed Brown, Arkin and Gaidos for the November 2024 election.

Karla Brown, Valerie Arkin and Matt Gaidos are the three candidates most prepared to meet the challenging years ahead that include a large budget deficit, procuring safe drinking water, and upgrading Pleasanton’s aging water infrastructure.

Mayor Karla Brown and Councilmember Valerie Arkin, have both logged many years of proven leadership in elected positions on the council and/or the PUSD School Board. Matt Gaidos, who currently chairs the Planning Commission, is a lifelong Pleasanton native and serves as a Deputy District Attorney in Alameda County. He will lend a fresh perspective on issues coming forward to the Council and add expertise to public safety issues.

All 3 candidates have demonstrated a keen ability to resolve critical problems representing the resident’s interests and not for their own political ambitions. We believe these three candidates are solution driven and focused on respectful communication with fellow council members, City staff and the community. Their collective experience with other government agencies and ability to resolve problems, benefits our city. Finally, all three are committed to Smart Growth practices under State Mandates, and will advocate for neighborhoods, our historic downtown, and a jobs and housing balance. Only these 3 candidates took the voluntary campaign spending limit pledge that helps minimize the significant amount of campaign donations from those who may seek undue influence over important decisions facing the City Council. They additionally do not accept donations from Builders/Developers.

Mayor Brown has worked for the past 8 years as a City Council member and 4 years as Mayor to help maintain the high level of residents satisfaction. Under her leadership as Mayor she has helped bring international businesses to Pleasanton and helped save local businesses from economic hardships. She regulates respectful dialogue with staff, fellow Council Members and the community.

City Council Member Arkin seeks another 4 year term on the Council and will continue to bring a wealth of information to help the Council strengthen the relationship between the City and the schools. Gaidos has 7 years of Housing and Planning Commission experience and has demonstrated he is prepared to study and work diligently on complex problems facing Pleasanton.
