Popular Pleasanton Gift Shop Announces Downtown Location Closure
Fans of Clover Creek should keep an eye on social media for upcoming announcements regarding the store's new location, owner says.

PLEASANTON, CA — A popular downtown business announced it would be closing its Main Street store in a posting on social media.
Clover Creek on Main Street owner Alexis Gass took to Facebook Sept. 29, announcing the closure to the business' more than 1,600 followers.
"After 30 wonderful years, we are announcing the closing of Clover Creek on Main Street," Gass wrote. "We hope that you enjoyed shopping with us as much as we enjoyed serving you."

Gass said that she became interested in opening her own gift shop after she helped a shop owner friend of hers from another town during the Christmas season.

"The experience was so enjoyable that I decided to open my own store," Gass said.
Gass said she developed her idea for what would eventually become Clover Creek on Main Street and from there, attended trade shows to select merchandise that represented the vision she wanted to create. She searched for a location and opened Clover Creek in downtown Pleasanton.
"As the business grew, the store relocated a few times but has always been in downtown Pleasanton," Gass said.
With a mid December closing date planned, Gass said that Christmas would still be happening at Clover Creek starting in mid-October with all merchandise at discounted prices. Her closing sale on all other items began Saturday, Sept. 30.
While the decision to close the Main Street location wasn't an easy one for Gass, fans of Clover Creek could soon have a new location to shop for those unique gifts and one-of-a-kind items.
A potential new location really doesn't come as much of a surprise since Gass told Patch that "being able to meet people and present current, quality gifts and home decor merchandise at affordable prices" to those who visit her shop are just a few of the things that she loves about being a business owner.
"There are multiple factors that go into planning the future of a business every year," Gass explained. "At this time it’s felt that Clover Creek’s future looks better in a different location.
Gass expects to take a break after the store closes in December but said that fans should keep an eye on her social media where she expects to make an announcement regarding her plans for a new location in Pleasanton sometime in the new year.
"Please stay in touch with us on social media or email to hear of our future plans," she said in her Sept. 29 Facebook post. "We hope to bring you many of the brands we now carry and new ones hand picked with care just for you."
