Pleasanton Officer Involved Shooting: Armed Suspect Dead After 'Charging' At Officers

Breaking: An armed man charged at officers, causing one officer to fire at him.

PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton Police say an armed man charged at them Saturday afternoon at a house on Burgundy Way, causing an officer to fire at him. The man succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Pleasanton PD Crime Prevention Officer Shannon Revel-Whitaker said officers responded to a domestic disturbance 911 call at 11:36 a.m. Saturday. When they got there, a garage door opened, and "an armed man became visible," Whitaker said. The man allegedly charged at the officers. Whitaker said that's when the officer shot and killed the man. It is not clear at this time if the man was pointing the gun at officers.

Burgundy Drive and Touriga Drive between Chablis Court and Tawny Drive are still closed due to the investigation. Police say these roads will be closed for several hours.
