Scam Calls Targeting Pleasanton Residents

The Pleasanton Police Department said it has received numerous reports of scammers pretending to be them and asking for payment.

PLEASANTON, CA — Numerous Pleasanton residents have reported receiving calls from scammers claiming to be with the Pleasanton Police Department.

The department said it has received an "overwhelming number of calls" reporting that residents received a call from the Pleasanton Police Department phone number. The scammers say they are from the department, and ask for payment.

The Pleasanton Police Department, or any other police department, will never call residents asking to make payments over the phone. Anyone who receives such a call should hang up immediately, and never share any personal information.
