Special Olympics Torch Passes Through Pleasanton
Pleasanton police officers brought the Special Olympics Flame of Hope more than seven miles through town.

PLEASANTON, CA — Members of the Pleasanton Police Department and community carried the Special Olympics Torch through town Thursday as it made its way through the Tri-Valley en route to the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games at Santa Clara University.
Crews led by Interim Chief Gina Anderson took the torch, officially known as the Special Olympics Flame of Hope, from through town into Livermore, with a brief stop at the East Bay Regional Park District Police Department, and then onto Livermore, where crews carried it through the downtown. "For over 20 years, we’ve been a part of the Torch Run, which raises awareness and vital funds to save sports, health, fitness, and education programs for Special Olympics athletes. We look forward to continuing our support!" PPD said.
The flame arrived Friday at the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games at Santa Clara University. From June 28-30, athletes from around the world will compete in swimming, track, bocce, and tennis. See here for more information.
