Tri-Valley Schools' Robotics Team Shines with 3rd Place Win in their division at FTC World Championship

FIRST Tech Challenge Team 14259 TURBΩ V8, a student-run robotics team based in the East Bay and captained by Veer Nanda (Junior at Amador Valley High School), recently represented California at the prestigious FIRST World Championship from April 16–19, 2025 in Huston, Texas. TURBΩ V8 became the first team from the East Bay to ever qualify for the Championship after an undefeated run of competing against top teams from across the Bay Area and California during their qualifiers and at regionals held earlier in the year. They were one of only two regional teams to advance based on robot performance alone, ranking them first in Northern California by offensive power rating.
TURBΩ V8 stood out globally at the World Championship, finishing 3rd in their division among 256 of the world’s best teams. They also took home the 1st place Control Award for their software innovation and excellence.

Recently the team also raised $2000 via their community outreach program as well as $5000 via sponsorships from V-Belt Guys, Bytebridge, Gene Haas Foundation, Fabworks, Polymaker, Underground Printing, and PG&E. Other AVHS students on the team include Aarav Shah, Abhay Girish, Amber Mo, Devesh Senthilraja, Rachel Dong, Rukshana Yowvanaraj, and Sai Kata. TURBΩ V8 team roster also included students from Foothill High School (Sushant Indupuru, Ariane Desdier), Dougherty Valley High School (Anish Dhamija, Joy Wang) and California High School (Prathik Prasanna), a true demonstrator of TURBΩ V8 mission in action of:
- Breaking barriers to STEM education and opportunities
- Bring together diverse perspectives to inspire and empower the next generation of STEM leaders
- Innovate and push the limits on mechanical and software design
