Ramona Motorist Killed In Crash In Indio

Authorities withheld the name of the man, who was from Ramona, pending notification of his relatives.

INDIO, CA — A San Diego County man was killed when the pickup he was driving crashed in the Indio area, authorities said Wednesday.

The 61-year-old man died at the scene of the crash, which occurred about 7:10 p.m. Tuesday on eastbound State Route 62 east of State Route 177, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities withheld the name of the man, who was from Ramona, pending notification of his relatives. The man was driving a 2001 Ford F-150, the CHP reported.

"For reasons still under investigation, the driver allowed his vehicle to leave the roadway and travel on the south shoulder of State Route 62," a CHP statement said. "The male swerved back toward the roadway, lost control of the Ford and overturned multiple times."
