$168K+ In Merch Stolen From RSM Business: 5 Arrested
Five people were arrested on suspicion of stealing more than $168,000 in merchandise from a Rancho Santa Margarita business.

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Five suspects were arrested over the weekend on suspicion of stealing roughly $168,985 worth of merchandise from a Rancho Santa Margarita business on New Year's Day.
According to authorities, two of the suspects were arrested on Friday, Jan. 17. Three additional arrests were made during the investigation, bringing the total number of suspects arrested to five.
The business reported the theft on New Year's Day, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. The business reported a loss of roughly $168,985 worth of merchandise, police said, though authorities said most — if not all — of the stolen merchandise was recovered.

The identities of the five suspects were not immediately released.
"To help prevent crimes like this, business owners are reminded to turn on their alarm systems and ensure they are functioning properly," the OCSD said in a statement. "Additionally, consider registering or integrating your security camera system with Fusus through the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Camera Registry Program to add an extra layer of security for your businesses."
