Rise In Mosquitoes Reported In RSM, OC Vector Control Says
Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District will apply an adulticide meant to address the growth in Rancho Santa Margarita.
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — The Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District is reporting an increase of mosquito activity in the City of Rancho Santa Margarita.
In response, OCMVCD will be conducting an Ultra-Low Volume adulticide treatment to address the growth of the mosquito population in the area.
The treatment will be applied Aug. 15 through Aug. 17. from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m., according to the OCMVCD.

"Adult mosquito control will occur when there is an increase in the number of mosquitoes in a particular area of detection of virus activity in the mosquitoes," an OCMVCD statement read. "The District conducts adult mosquito control by using ultra-low volume adulticiding equipment."
According to the district, the pesticides — alternatively referred to as "adulticides" — are registered by the US Environmental Protection agency and pose no risk to humans.
