Well-Loved Restaurant To Close In RSM

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — A well-loved local eatery is closing for good in Rancho Santa Margarita, after Cibo Italiano announced its impending closure on Saturday, April 5.

"It is with profound sadness that I wish to inform you that Cibo Italiano will be going out of business," the restaurant posted to Facebook on March 30. "We have loved serving the community and will miss you all beyond measure."

Cibo ownership cited operating expenses and a "downward spiral" of the food industry as being main factors behind closing.

The announcement left countless Cibo Italiano patrons disheartened by the local closure.

"I literally just discovered you guys last month now I’m so sad." Ioana Hagiu wrote on Facebook.

"Devastating news for the city of RSM. A wonderful, authentic spot, serving up the most delicious food I’ve ever had. My husband and I will miss Gisella, her team, and her food all so much," Lauren Rae wrote. "We’ve spent countless nights there over a bottle of wine, it’s one of the only spots I could stomach while pregnant, and we were excited to have a place to make new family traditions. This is why it’s crucial to support small businesses where and when you can."

Residents in possession of a Cibo Italiano gift card were urged to cash in before the last dish is served on Saturday, April 5.
