Redondo Stays 3rd In Water Challenge
As the hours—and seconds—count down to May 1, Redondo Beach is still No. 3 in the Mayor's Challenge.

The month-long Wyland Foundation's comes to an end Saturday—and with fewer than 4 hours left in the contest, Redondo Beach is still No. 3.
Neighboring city Hermosa Beach ranks first.
Throughout the month of April, Patch has been following the city's ranking in the region-wide competition that encourages residents to conserve water by taking an online pledge to practice "water-saving" habits, such as using refillable water bottles or taking shorter showers.

The city with the highest percentage of residents taking the pledge wins the challenge, which kicked off April 1.
Participants in the challenge also can enter a chance to win prizes—including tickets to a Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game or Disneyland.

Here are the top 10 cities with the highest percentage of pledges in the challenge as of Saturday morning:
- Hermosa Beach
- Vernon
- Redondo Beach
- Villa Park
- Gardena
- Long Beach
- Signal Hill
- Monrovia
- Torrance
- Agoura Hills
Note, however, that the rankings may change between midnight and when the Wyland Foundation certifies the results. The foundation said it planned to throw out any invalid votes, e.g. those lacking a valid email address.
