Family Mourns Torrance Woman Killed By Sharks In Bahamas
Jordan Lindsey's family is fundraising to help cover the costs of having her body transported from the Bahamas back to her home in Torrance.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — A fundraiser was underway Thursday to raise money to pay for funeral costs for a 21-year-old South Bay woman attacked and killed by three sharks in the Bahamas.
Jordan Lindsey, of Torrance, was attacked Tuesday afternoon off Rose Island while snorkeling with family members, the Royal Bahamas Police Force told NBC Los Angeles in a statement. Family members that saw the sharks tried yelling to warn Lindsey, but she didn't hear them in time.
She suffered bites to her arms, legs and buttocks, police said. Her mother tried to get Lindsey to shore, but she had already lost too much blood, the news station said.

“She said it happened so fast, and no one yelled anything. My wife got to Jordan and pulled Jordan to shore by herself,” her father, Michael Lindsey, told ABC Los Angeles. “The medical staff said they still had to do an autopsy. My wife said no one told her there were three sharks.”
Lindsey was transported to shore and taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

Lindsey's family set up a GoFundMe to cover the costs of having the Loyola Marymount University student's body transported from the Bahamas back to her home in Torrance.
"Jordan Lindsey was a beloved daughter, sister, girlfriend, and friend. Jordan had the most beautiful, gentle soul, and she will be missed deeply," the family wrote on GoFundMe. "This GoFundMe is being set up to help Jordan’s family pay for any travel and funeral expenses for Jordan’s body."
Officials with the Bahamas government said The Ministry of Tourism "expresses its condolences and deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of the victim," according to ABC Los Angeles.
Part of the money raised will also go towards the Gentle Barn, an animal rescue organization in Santa Clarita, Calif., because "Jordan loved the Gentle Barn and would have wanted them to have help too," the fundraiser said.
