8 Arrests Made At Santa Rosa Protest

Police said they hoped future protests would be peaceful, allowing all citizens an opportunity to have their voices heard in a safe space.

SANTA ROSA, CA β€” Santa Rosa police officers arrested eight people Wednesday night for violating the city's curfew following a protest of police brutality, police said Thursday. Three small groups of protesters gathered around 8 p.m. at Old Courthouse Square and the corners of Mendocino and College avenues and College Avenue and E Street.

Most protesters dispersed before the city's 8 p.m. curfew, save for the eight who were arrested. Officers made four arrests at Old Courthouse Square and two each from the other locations between 9:06 p.m. and 9:35 p.m., according to the police department.

"It is our hope that any future protests will be peaceful, allowing all citizens the opportunity to have their voices heard, in a safe space," the Santa Rosa Police Department said in a statement.
