Armed Suspect In Santa Rosa Botched Robbery On Loose: Police

BREAKING: A ski-mask wearing man reportedly fired a shot while trying to rob Harry's Market late Tuesday night, Santa Rosa police say.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA β€” An attempted armed robbery suspect was at large Wednesday morning after he tried to rob a market late Tuesday night in Santa Rosa, police said. At 11:58 p.m., police received a report of an attempted armed robbery that had just occurred at Harry's Market at 501 W. Ninth St. Officers responded to the scene and learned that the suspect entered the market, pulled a shotgun out from under his jacket and demanded a clerk open the cash drawer, police said.

When the clerk was unable to open the drawer, the suspect fired one shot to the side of the clerk. The clerk was not injured, police said.

The suspect and the clerk tried again to open the drawer, but were unsuccessful. Then the suspect left the market and ran south through the parking lot toward West Ninth Street, police said.

Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

He was described as a Hispanic male, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build, police said. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask, a black soft shell jacket, a polo shirt with white and black stripes, black sweat pants or jeans and white running or tennis shoes.
