Firefighters Save Dog In Santa Rosa Fire

Firefighters brought a Santa Rosa residential fire under control in about 20 minutes Saturday night and saved a dog, according to SRFD.

SANTA ROSA, CA β€” Firefighters brought a Santa Rosa residential fire under control in about 20 minutes Saturday night and saved a dog, the agency said.

When firefighters responded to 1623 Gamay Street around 10 p.m., heavy smoke and fire were coming from the garage, according to the department. The firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about 20 minutes, keeping it from spreading any further than the garage and the second-story bedroom above the garage, the department said.

The garage had major damage, with minimal damage to the second-story bedroom and minor smoke damage to most of the living area, according to the department.

The homeowner and a child were outside the home when the first fire engine arrived, according to the department. The Red Cross will be assisting the two occupants who lived at the address, the department said.

Damage to the home is estimated at $75,000 and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the department.
