PENNGROVE - A part-time worker at a Penngrove disabled adult group home is accused of stealing more than $1,700 from the resident's general lock-box and fleeing.
According to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office, 30-year-old Ronald Rey Dumloa Abad worked two nights a week at the home, but often called in sick, claiming his hospitalized mother was gravely ill and his presence was required at her bedside.
Authorities say last Tuesday night, Abad did not come to work. During the normal course of duties in the evening, another coworker at the home checked a lock-box that contained the earnings of the residents of the facility.

A total of $1,712 had been stolen.
The next morning, deputies say Ronald Abadβs stepfather came to the group home to return the home's house key. The stepfather told officials he had given Abad a ride to Windsor in the early hours of the morning and was told to give the key back to the manager.
During the ride to Windsor, the Sheriff's Department says Abad made statements to the stepfather indicating his sole responsibility for the theft.
Authorities were led to believe Abad was planning to head to Washington State.
A Be-On-the-Lookout for Abad was issued to law enforcement agencies along the Highway 101 California corridor, and to agencies in Oregon and Washington.
About seven minutes after the BOL was issued, authorities say a Ukiah Police officer spotted Abad.
Abad was arrested, and driven to the county line where he was turned him over to the custody of a Sonoma County Deputy Sheriff.
Ronald Rey Dumloa Abad was booked into the MADF for Grand Theft and Abuse/Theft from a Dependent Adult. His bail was set at $15,000.
Abad is scheduled to appear before a Judge of the Sonoma County Superior Court Wednesday, March 30, at 1:30 p.m. in Dept. 9.
Deputies consider Abad a transient, and are asking any residents who may know or be familiar with the man to call the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office at (707) 565-2511.
