Man Killed in Tractor Accident Near Glen Ellen

A man removing dirt from a pond at a private property near Glen Ellen in Sonoma County Friday evening was killed in a tractor accident, a Sonoma County sheriff's sergeant said.

Around 6 p.m. authorities responded to the 12100 block of Henno Road after a fatal tractor accident was reported, Sonoma County sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

Upon arrival, sheriff's deputies found a 38-year-old self-employed independent contractor from Oakland who had been fatally injured while working on a pond. The man's name has not been released.

The worker had been on a John Deere tractor hauling dirt to make a pond when he somehow fell off and the tractor rolled over him, Crum said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

There was one other worker at the site who reported the incident, Crum said. No other injuries were reported, he said.

The industrial accident will be investigated by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, Crum said.
