Metallica Frontman to be Honored at Facebook's Little Kids Rock Fundraiser
This year's event will honor the late Chef Josef Desimone, former Google chef and a supporter of the music education fundraiser.

The second annualΒ nonprofitΒ Little Kids RockΒ βRockinβ The Bay Benefitβ onΒ Saturday, Nov. 9, at Facebookβs Menlo Park headquarters will honor Metallica frontman James Hetfield whileΒ raising money to help deliver the gift of music to thousands of students in Bay Area public schools.
The event willΒ also pay tribute to the late executive chef of Facebook,Β Josef Desimone, a volunteer and supporter of Little Kids Rock who died last summer in a motorcycle accident.

The national charity will be dedicating this yearβs benefit to Desimone, who was in the midst of helping Little Kids Rock plan their second annual βRockinβ The Bay Benefitβ at the time of his death.
One of Little Kids Rockβs donors has offered a $150,000 matching grant to urge others to donate. In addition, the charity will also announce Facebook as its βCorporate Honoree.β

Β Each year, the benefit features a fun night of music and live auctions, as well as a number of musical performances from special guests.Β Last yearβs guests included Sammy Hagar, Black Eyed Peasβ Taboo, and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame drummer Matt Sorum.Β Β
The event raised enough money to put more than 5,000 rock instruments and educational programming into local public schools, providing free music lessons to tens of thousands of children in the Bay Area. Β
