North Bay 20-30 Club Outfits 80 Local Kids for School
The Rohnert Park, Sebastopol and Petaluma clubs helped more than 80 kids shop for back-to-school supplies and a new wardrobe Saturday morning.
Three Active 20-30 Clubs of the North Bay — Rohnert Park, Petaluma and Sebastopol — gathered Saturday morning outside to take 80 local kids back-to-school shopping.

The event, known as Kid's Spree, is geared at getting underprivileged kids necessities for the upcoming school year — everything from backpacks filled with school supplies, to shoes and a new wardrobe.

The 20-30 Club partners with local nonprofits, such as the and the , to identify the kids in need. Then each child gets $150 to spend shopping with a volunteer. On they way home, they're outfitted with a backpack and a free haircut.
Volunteers from the 20-30 Club, Sonoma State University and other local businesses take the kids shopping in the store. Organizers estimated the event cost between $15,000 and $18,000.

Five Kohl's employees also volunteered their time, and the store donated $500 to the club. Sally Tomatoes donated breakfast.
