What do you think of the new businesses coming to Rohnert Park's empty storefronts? What else would you like to see come to town?

If you've driven down Commerce Boulevard any time in the last month, you've probably noticed the construction underway at the Northbay Centre.

The San Rafael-based developer who's in charge of the project to renovate the entire shopping center β€” outfitting it with new native trees and vegetation, an exterior remodel and a new building (which hasn't broken ground yet) to house a new restaurant.

Check out the photos to the right β€” so far there's new wood chips and grasses in the planter boxes, a few new trees and the exterior is coming along.

The restaurant, which is in early 2012, according to the city and project developers, is also making progress. So far, no construction has started, but the company has filed a "public notice to sell alcoholic beverages" with Alcohol and Beverage Control.
