Photos Show Armed, Masked Suspect In Botched Santa Rosa Robbery

Santa Rosa police say the suspect in an attempted robbery at Harry's Market fired a shot when the clerk was unable to open the cash drawer.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA β€” Santa Rosa police have released security camera photos of a suspect in the attempted armed robbery of a market late Tuesday night. According to police, the robber pulled a shotgun from under his jacket and demanded cash from a clerk at Harry's Market at 501 W. Ninth St. shortly before midnight.

The robber fired a shot when the clerk was unable to open the cash drawer, and the robber and clerk tried again to open the drawer before the robber ran out of the market, police Sgt. Josh Ludtke said.

The suspect is a Hispanic male who is about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black ski mask, black soft-shell jacket, white and black striped polo shirt, black sweatpants or jeans and white running-style tennis shoes, police said.

Police searched the area but did not locate the suspect. The clerk was not injured in the robbery attempt, Ludtke said.

The Sonoma County Alliance is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the suspect's arrest and conviction.
