Police "Actively" Looking for Man Who Assaulted Woman on Creek Path

Rohnert Park police have been searching for the man since last Friday afternoon.

Rohnert Park police said Friday that they're "actively searching" for the who was jogging on Five Creek path last Friday, June 17.Β Officers are putting up sketches of the man along Rohnert Park creeks and circulating them amongst area businesses, said Lt. Jeff Taylor, a spokesperson for the department.

The woman was jogging along Five Creek near Americana and Park Ridge apartment complexes around 3:30 p.m. last Friday when the suspect confronted her, and said to her "come here girlie." He then grabbed the woman by her forearms and brandished a box cutter, according to police.

He slashed at the woman's face and the victim raised her arms to protect herself. The victim's forearm was cut; she was treated at a hospital and released.

The suspect appears to be a caucasian male, between 30 and 35 years old, about 6 feet 2 inches and between 210 and 230 pounds, Taylor said. The sketch released by police indicates the man is bald and has a short goatee.

He was wearing a dirt-stained white tank top and light blue shorts. He also has a 2-inch round tattoo on his forearm that appeared to be a circle with a cross through it, police said.

"We've got extra patrols out there and we're walking the creeks regularly," Taylor said. "We're definitely still looking for this person."

Police are urging residents to be vigilant while walking or jogging on the creek paths and to avoid using the paths alone.
