Police, CHP Cite Drivers During Santa Rosa Sideshow Enforcement

Twenty-five citations were handed out during a street-racing/sideshow enforcement operation Friday night, a CHP officer said.

SANTA ROSA, CA β€” The California Highway Patrol and Santa Rosa police issued 25 citations at a street-racing/sideshow enforcement operation Friday night, a CHP officer said. There were five additional officers on duty during the five-hour enforcement in the Santa Rosa area that focused on illegally modified vehicles that included imports, muscle cars and pickup trucks, CHP Officer
David deRutte said.

Two people were arrested on suspicion of DUI, two were cited for an open container of cannabis and three vehicles were taken for storage, deRutte said.

A juvenile driver of a Mustang drove through a red light during a pursuit from Baker Avenue onto northbound U.S. Highway 101 to College Avenue in Santa Rosa, deRutte said.

The driver collided with a vehicle, causing injury to one of its occupants. He was arrested for evading and booked in juvenile hall, deRutte said.
