Rohnert Park Hit-And-Run Suspect Turns Himself In

Man suspected of hit-and-run in Rohnert Park turns himself into the Sonoma County Clerk's Office.

A man who is wanted in connection with an Oct. 7, 2012, hit-and-run in which a bicyclist was severely injured has turned himself in to authorities

Jared Whisman-Pryor, 27, of Santa Rosa, turned himself in to the Sonoma County Clerk's Office this morning, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

Whisman-Pryor is suspected of hitting bicyclist William Schilling, of Windsor, as Whisman-Pryor rode a motorcycle along Redwood Drive near Willis Avenue.

Police say Whisman-Pryor left the scene of the accident after hitting Schilling, leaving Schilling with severe injuries.

Schilling, 68, doesnt remember much from the crash but to this day has one request ..."I hope that guy does not hurt anyone else." he told Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Sgt. Johnson according to a press release. Schilling required hospitalization as well as long-term rehabilitation.

On Dec. 6, a $40,000 felony arrest warrant was issued for Jared Whisman-Pryor, the release stated.

"After a lengthy investigation, we were able to compile our case and get the warrant for Mr. Whisman-Pryor issued," Sgt. Johnson said. "I received a phone call from Whisman-Pryor's attorney this morning indicating Jared had turned himslef in and has taken care of the warrant as well as attended his first court appearance. We are thankful for the cooperation of the folks in the community who came forward and helped us solve our case. Actually Mr. Schilling is appreciative as this helps give him closure and he can focus on his recovery."
