Rohnert Park to get a Hooters Restaurant

The Planning Commission this Thursday will hear about changes to the exterior of the building and parking.

The Planning Commission this Thursday will hear plans to retrofit the exterior of the building at 6099 Redwood Dr. to accommodateΒ a newΒ Hooters restaurant on the vacant lot, bordered by White Glove Smog Check and Sleep City Mattress Center.Β

Planning and Building Manager Marilyn Ponton said the commission is charged with approving plans to change the exterior of the building to include some orange paint and a covered entryway, OK'ing a seven-foot orange sign on site with an owl depicted on it and with expanding the parking lot to 102 spaces from the current 84.Β

The commission doesn't decide on the type of restaurant that gets to go there, said Ponton, who is recommending approval of the project.Β

"This is a permitted use for the site; it's zoned regional commercial, just like Applebee's or Sheri's," she said.

According to plans, the Rohnert Park Hooters will occupy half the building, will use most of the parking spots, and will have seating for 197 people. The proposed hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. till 1 a.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. till 11 p.m.
