Santa Rosa Apartment Fire Injures Firefighter, Resident
The two-alarm fire damaged several apartments, officials said.
SANTA ROSA, CA β A firefighter and a resident were injured and four apartments were damaged in a fire in a 24-unit apartment building in eastern Santa Rosa Friday, fire officials said.
The fire was reported to the Santa Rosa Fire Department around 11:19 a.m. Firefighters arrived at 4040 Hoen Avenue less than four minutes later and found an upstairs apartment fully ablaze, according to the fire department.
Fire crews attacked the fire in the apartment with multiple hose lines, and ladder trucks were sent to the roof to cut ventilation openings to help stop the fire from spreading, fire officials said. Crews searched for a couple reported to be trapped, though it turned out that the two had already gotten out of the building.

Due to the rapid response of fire crews and the aggressive fire attack, the two-alarm fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes, according to fire officials. A firefighter suffered a minor injury and was taken to the hospital, where he was in stable condition Friday, fire officials said. An occupant of the building suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital, according to fire officials.
The cause of the fire hasn't been determined yet and the department is investigating, fire officials said.
